The route of La Plata or AP-66 highway is a highway in Spain that corresponds to the toll section of the route of La Plata that connects Gijón and Seville.
The AP-66 UNE Asturias and León, popularly known as the Huerna Highway Because it crosses the valley formed by the river of the same name.
It begins in Campomanes (Asturias), until ending in Valverde de la Virgen (León). It has a length of 78 kilometers.
Qualified as a high mountain highway since it runs from north to south by the Cantabrian mountain range, reaching a maximum height of 1,229 meters.

🛏️ Where to sleep in the AP-66

📈 AP-66 concessionaire
From the opening of the AP-66, Corporation Aucalsa (Astur-Leonese concessionary highway, SA) holds an executive concession for its exploitation, which initially was valid until 2021 and was extended until October 17, 2050.
It is expected that in 2050, the AP-66 reverses the State and is free. The Aucalsa company belongs to the Itínere business society.
